Meet The Mascot

The Burger Times Mascot is WIRA!

But who exactly is WIRA? What does WIRA stand for?

WIRA is an owl whose name stands for “Who I Really Am”. To me, it means that you’re not afraid to be who you really are, and you’re not afraid stand up for yourself and what you believe. WIRA the owl is a very meaningful mascot, and “Who I Really Am” is extremely important! I interviewed several Williamsburg students, and this is what WIRA the owl means to them.

"WIRA means a lot of different things to me,” Hannah F. said, “It means that I am not afraid to show the world who I really am. It means that I have learned to accept myself with or without my mistakes and flaws. It means that no matter what, I will stand up for my friends and myself. I have learned through the years that this is a very important principle to apply when you are a leader, because if you are leading others then you have to accept yourself first!”

Another Burger student, Anne K., said the following about what WIRA means to her. "To me, it means that you need to find yourself. To do that, I guess you have to like yourself first, and just be comfortable with who you are. If you aren’t, then change. And I guess it also means, surround yourself with people you want to be like, because you have mirror neurons in your brain, and what you see makes a neuron fire, so then they wire together, (so just have good friends). And that’s what I think it [WIRA] means to me!”

Now that you know who WIRA is, as well as what WIRA means to a few students, what does WIRA (Who I Really Am) mean to you? Comment below what it means to you along with any thoughts and questions.
